Abstract

It is established that the transport of suspended material in streams of the Murmansk coastal area is governed by the hydrological regime, which depends on the climatic conditions of the region. The suspended matter is found to consist mostly of clastic material, the share of organic matter being <7% of the total suspension mass. The concentration of suspension and its annual discharge are small. All the streams under study feature the deficiency of suspended material, its value being insufficient to maintain the normal rate of sedimentation in the bays of the Murmansk coastal area.
