The original version of this article unfortunately contained a mistake. Under the heading “Transferrin changes in haemodialysed patients” in the sentence “We included in the study only those mHD patients who met the following criteria: a stable clinical state, no recent thrombosis or acute infection, absence of inflammation, i.e. normal serum concentration of C-reactive protein, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 and TNF-alpha, no comorbid iron metabolism disturbances at present, i.e. high serum ferritin and low serum iron level, without uncontrolled hypertension, no oral contraception in women of child-bearing age, stable and no more than twice the normal alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase levels (upper range 45 U/l)” the phrase “absence of inflammation i.e. normal serum concentration of C-reactive protein, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 and TNF-alpha” should be replaced by phrase “with presence of chronic inflammation, i.e. increased concentration of C-reactive protein, interleukin-1 and interleukin-6 and TNF-alpha” and the phrase “no comorbid iron metabolism disturbances at present, i.e. high serum ferritin and low serum iron level” should be replaced by the phrase “with the presence of comorbid iron metabolism disturbances at present, i.e. high serum ferritin and low serum iron level”.
