Abstract

Organically modified silica-based SiliaCat TEMPO is an oxidizing catalyst that can efficiently replace other homogeneous stable nitroxyl radicals. Its high activity, reusability, leach-proof properties, selectivity towards the oxidation of alcohols into aldehydes/ketones and its capacity to carry out the oxidation in either organic solvents or water, with or without KBr as co-catalyst, have shown that this material is green chemistry driven.
