Abstract

Two complexes of 9,10-phenanthrenedione-9-oxime (HL), [MnIIIMnIIMnIIIL6](OH)2·3DMF (1) and [Ni2L4(H2O)2]·3DMF (2), were obtained from the reactions of 9,10-phenanthrenedione dioxime with Mn2+ and 9,10-phenanthrenedione-9-oxime with Ni2+, respectively. Thus, 9,10-phenanthrenedione dioxime was transformed into HL during the course of the reaction. Complex 1 presents a mixed-valence linear trinuclear skeleton with the central Mn(II) atom linked to the two peripheral Mn(III) atoms by triple oximato bridges. Complex 2 features a dinuclear structure with the two Ni(II) atoms bridged by two oximato bridges. The magnetic properties of the two complexes were investigated.
