Luminescence of Cds Nanoparticles Doped with Silver Ions

  • Published:
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

The optical characteristics of CdS nanoparticles doped with silver ions and produced in aqueous solutions were studied. It was shown that there is an optimum content of Ag+ ions in the composition of the semiconductor nanoparticles at which it is possible to increase their luminescence intensity by more than five times. It is suggested that such an effect of silver ions on the luminescence characteristics of CdS nanoparticles is due to the formation of additional “deep” defect levels in the bandgap of cadmium sulfide. The photogenerated charges captured at these levels participate with high efficiency in radiative recombination.
