Abstract
We propose and test a new conceptual model in which overall justice is an antecedent to personal flourishing. Flourishing, in turn, partially mediates the relationship of overall justice to job performance and organizational citizenship behaviors directed toward individuals (OCB-I). These hypotheses are confirmed. However, high materialism weakens the relationship between overall justice and flourishing. Consequently, the mediated effects of justice on performance and OCB-I are moderated by materialism. In short, materialism sets limits on overall justice as an antecedent of flourishing and effective work behaviors.

Respondents were members of a preexisting panel, which is used by the French Consumer Science and Analytics (CSA 10 rue Godefroy 92800 Puteaux France, mail info@csa.eu, tel 01.57.00.58.00), a company specialized in opinion and market studies, and has been solicited for various investigations. Membership is the panel is voluntary. Participants are treated in accordance with prevailing ethical standards, including full informed consent. All individuals sign a contract with CSA, which includes the right to voluntary end participation at any time. Panel members are not paid for their participation but are thanked with a small gift. More specifically, for each study, individuals are given a few points. When enough points are obtained, they can then be converted to Amazon gift cards. The use of only small gifts reduces the risk of biased responding. The questionnaires were administrated online by the CSA with a typical response rate. Of the roughly 4000 participants who were surveyed, a total of 1005 elected to take part in this study. As described in our manuscript, of these 1005, we selected the 602 working population participants
