Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Aims and scope

Causes of the deformation of a building in Magadan are examined. It is established that the cause of crack formation in the administrative building is loss of strength by brick masonry as a result of waterlogging of the lower section of the wall due to entry of atmospheric moisture and ground water of the seasonally thawing layer through the poorly protected socle and rubble-concrete foundation, which is devoid of waterproofing.
