Results are presented for large-scale experimental investigations of the performance of soil cushions formed from high-density soils, which can be installed on weak saturated soils using local materials. It is demonstrated that the soil cushions, which possess high strength and distributing capacity, make it possible to improve substantially the bearing capacity and reduce compressibility.
