Abstract
The effectiveness of the strengthening of a weak bed by reinforcement composed of vertical rigid elements installed by the drill-and-mix procedure is evaluated. The reduced compression modulus of saturated loess clayey loams, as determined by methods of analysis, plate tests, and modeling of the stress-strain state of the “reinforced-bed/plate” system, is compared.
