Psychometric Properties of the Spanish Version of the Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire-Short-Form (CSFQ-14) in a Sample of Males with Drug Abuse History

Abstract

This study presents the first psychometric data on the Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire Short-Form (CSFQ-14), a self-report instrument to assess sexual functioning, in a sample of 104 males with drug abuse history. They were collected in 2008. The questionnaire was completed along with the Addictive Behavior Questionnaire and the Brief Sexual Function Inventory. A three-dimensional factor structure was observed in the CSFQ-14: Desire (alpha = .73), Arousal-orgasm (alpha = .67) and Pleasure (including only one item). Scores indicated adequate validity, with similar values to samples of depressive patients and lower values than the normal population.

Resumen

En este trabajo se presentan los primeros datos psicométricos del Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire Short-Form (CSFQ-14), un autoinforme para evaluar el funcionamiento sexual, en una muestra de 104 sujetos drogodependientes (evaluados en 2008). El cuestionario fue cumplimentado junto al Addictive Behavior Questionnaire (ABQ) y al Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI). El CSFQ-14 muestra una estructura factorial de tres dimensiones: Deseo (α = .73), Excitación-orgasmo (α = .67) y Placer (sólo un ítem). Las puntuaciones muestran buena validez, hallándose valores similares a los encontrados en muestras de pacientes depresivos e inferiores a los de la población normal.

Résumé

Dans cet article nous vous présentons les premières données psychométriques du Changes in Sexual Functioning Questionnaire Short-Form (CSFQ-14), un test auto-administré pour l’évaluation du fonctionnement sexuel d’un échantillon de 104 sujets toxicomanes (évalués en 2008). Le questionnaire a été répondu ainsi que le Addictive Behavior Questionnaire (ABQ) et le Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI). Le CSFQ-14 a une structure factorielle qui présente trois dimensions: Désir (α = .73), Excitation-orgasme (α = .67) et Plaisir (seulement un ítem). Les résultats montrent une bonne validité; on y découvre des données semblables à celles trouvées dans l’échantillonnage de patients dépressifs, et des résultats inférieurs en comparaison à ceux de la population normale.
