Abstract
Background
Urine Pregnancy is an easily available diagnostic test in the present day. Sometimes, repeated analysis is requested to the laboratory for confirmation purpose. Here, the authors assess the stability of the urine sample keeping in refrigerator for repeated analysis.
Method
The authors collected 44 urine samples sending for urine pregnancy test in the refrigerator with temperature equal to 4°C waiting for repeated analysis. The comparison between the results from repeated analysis and first analysis was performed.
Results
The repeatability is 100% for the range of urine samples keeping in the refrigerators ranging from 1 day 9 days.
Discussion
It means that the urine sample can be kept for repeated analysis for the requested cases in the refrigerator for upto 9 days. In addition, the delayed in specimen transportation in case of holidays for 2 –3 days has no serious effect on the analysis for urine pregnancy test. Also, the result from this study can imply that positive urine sample might be kept as control materials for urine pregnancy within the laboratory.
