The Oxford Handbook of Philosophy of Biology (hereafter OHPB) may look like another collection of essays on the philosophy of biology, it is yet a very interesting one. It is edited by Michael Ruse, Lucyle T. Werkmeister Professor of Philosophy, at Florida State University. Ruse is a foundation figure in the discipline and has written numerous books, book chapters and articles on the philosophy of biology. The OHPB is a collection of essays that covers traditional topics like teleology and macroevolution, modern topics like genomics and Evo-Devo, and special topics like animal behavior, and the work of Stephen Jay Gould. There are various ways to provide an overview of the contents of the OHPB. In this review I will briefly present the chapters of the OHPB in the three groups mentioned above, by focusing on those chapters which I consider useful for biology education.
