Modeling the Influence of Anisotropic Structure of a Material on its Heating by Laser Beam

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

A three-dimensional model of heating an anisotropic sample by laser radiation is presented. The influence of an oblique incidence of the beam and different orientations of the material structure relative to the Cartesian coordinate system is studied. It is shown that in the case of Ti-6Al-4V sintered powder, an inclusion of these phenomena into consideration has a significant effect on the maximum heating temperature and heating depth.
