Spatial Electron Transitions in a Hydrogen-Like Atom with Photon Emission

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

For the first time, electron transitions in a hydrogen-like atom with changes in the spatial dimension D = 3 → D′ = 1, 2 and energy of its state accompanied by photon emission are considered. Similar conversions of some atoms have already been observed experimentally, but theoretical explanation for this effect is lacking. Calculations have been performed in parabolic coordinates. As a result, this approach is also of methodological interest since these coordinates are rarely used in the literature.
