Influence of the Aluminum Single Crystal Orientation on the Strain Localization Pattern

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

Results are presented of investigations into macrofragmentation and macrolocalization patterns of plastic strain in aluminum single crystals with volumes unbounded by crystal ends that can be distinguished for families of {111} maximally loaded planes. The [110] single crystals with two variants of lateral face orientations: 1) \( \left( {\overline{1}10} \right) \) and (001) and 2) \( \left( {\overline{1}1\overline{2}} \right) \) and \( \left( {\overline{1}11} \right) \) are studied. Conditions for shear strain macrolocalization are formulated.
