Russian Chemical Bulletin Aims and scope

Abstract

A catalytic system generated by mixing iodine and an aqueous ammonia solution can catalyze conversion of oxiranes and CO2 to five-membered organic carbonates within 5–12 h. This catalytic system performed better with substrates bearing the electron-withdrawing substituents; the silica additives and elevated CO2 pressure further accelerated the reaction.
