Improvement of quality of carbon fiber rods by the impregnation of carbon fibers with oligoorganosiloxanes

Abstract

The effect of the impregnation of the UKN-M-6K carbon fiber with organosilicon binders on the characteristics of carbon fiber rods was studied. Solutions of oligomethylphenylspirocyclosiloxane and oligomethylsiloxane were tested for the impregnation of the filler. When oligoorganosiloxanes are used, the quality of the carbon fiber rods is improved, which is manifested as an increase in their strength and the volume content of the binder and as a decrease in the volume fraction of the content of voids.
