Education in the United Kingdom, edited by Colin Brock, forms part of an 18-volume series looking at education across the globe. The first volume, Education around the world: A comparative introduction (2013)1 provided the reader with a general overview of the field of international and comparative education. Other books in the ongoing series are being released as they are completed (e.g., Education in West Central Asia [2013], Education in North America [2014], Education in South America [2015], Education in the Arab World [2017]).2 The scope of this United Kingdom (UK) volume includes the education systems found within the countries of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales; within Crown Dependencies (Isle of Man, Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey); and within a number of British Overseas Territories (e.g., Gibraltar, the Caribbean region).
