    Schugurensky studied under Torres for his Master’s degree at the University of Alberta. In the interest of full disclosure, I also worked with and befriended Torres in 2003 when I invited him to Egypt to engage with a group of critical educators on a project I was coordinating on culture and education in Egypt. We co-edited a book from that project by the title, Cultures of Arab schooling: Critical ethnographies from Egypt (State University of New York Press, 2006).
