Refinement of Methods for Determining the Properties of Powder Ceramics

  • Published:
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics Aims and scope

In this work, methodological requirements for conducting experimental studies into the properties of powder ceramics are refined by adding the requirement of a mandatory specification of sample sizes. It is noted that mass values of structural parameters should be used in preference to their volumetric equivalents. In addition, gradient properties of porous materials should be taken into account. When determining the parameters of porous structures and ceramic materials, an observed inconsistency between the results obtained by different methods arises due to the inaccuracy of porous medium models and percolation effects. Anew, more rigorous method for determining the filtering properties of porous ceramics based on experimental data is proposed.
