Technological Aspects of the Electrical-Discharge Machining of Small-Diameter Holes in a High-Density Ceramic. Part 31

  • Published:
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics Aims and scope

A study is made of the effect of the operating regime in electrical-discharge machining (EDM) on the condition and defectiveness of the surfaces of “blind” small-diameter holes drilled in parts made of an oxide-carbide ceramic. The physical pattern that is characteristic of the formation of these surfaces is determined, the morphology of the damaged layer is analyzed, and the surface defects are described. It is established that intensifying the operating regime used for the EDM drilling of holes in a ceramic increases the width of the damage zone.
