Experimental methods are developed for determining the melting-point range of multi-component slag systems and the concentration at which slag melts become saturated with refractory phases (MgO in particular). These determinations can be made over a wide range of chemical composition and temperature. The methods were developed to correct the process of slag formation in order to lengthen the service life of refractory linings.
