Hydroformylation of allyl acetate using rhodium polyether diphosphinite catalyst

Abstract

Wilkinson-type polymeric Rh–phosphinite complexes were prepared using polyethylene glycol based diphosphinite ligands and tested for the homogeneous hydroformylation of allyl acetate. The effect of reaction variables such as temperature, pressure, substrate/Rh ratio on the activity and selectivity towards aldehyde products were investigated. The reaction showed high rate, turnover number and increased regioselectivity towards branched aldehyde products as compared to traditional Rh–phosphine and Rh–diphosphine based catalysts.
