Summary
The preparation of Pd-La/Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> catalyst for the synthesis of 2,6-diisopropylaniline (2,6-DIPA) by gas-phase amination of 2,6-diisopropylphenol (2,6-DIPP) is reported together with its catalytic properties. The addition of La in Pd/Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> catalyst promoted the gas-phase amination efficiently. Under the conditions of 220<Superscript>o</Superscript>C, 1.5 Mpa, LHSV = 0.6 h-1, GHSV = 300 h<Superscript>-1</Superscript>, NH3/2,6-DIPP(mol) = 10, H<Subscript>2</Subscript>/DIPP(mol) = 20, the yield of 2,6-DIPA over Pd(0.5 wt.%)-La(0.1 wt.%)/Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> catalyst attained 83.8%. The whole run time of Pd(0.5 wt.%)-La (0.1 wt.%)/Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript> catalyst was up to 386 h.
