Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Broad-Area Lasers with the Pump Modulation and Injection of External Optical Radiation

  • Published:
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics Aims and scope

We study the possibility of stabilizing broad-area dynamic class B lasers, which include those with periodic pump modulation, by using injection of external optical radiation. The dynamics of a broad-area laser is analyzed by obtaining the dispersion curves and the bifurcation diagram as well as by numerical simulation of a two-dimensional nonstationary system of the Maxwell– Bloch equations. As a result, it is shown that the injection of an external coherent field effectively suppresses both the wave and Faraday (parametric) instability.
