Estimation of coherent source bearings using variational techniques

  • Published:
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics Aims and scope

Abstract

We study the problem of bearing estimation in the case of coherent signal sources with the use of variational techniques for minimizing the target function defined on the basis of the ℓp norm. A regularization technique similar to projection onto a signal subspace of given dimension is proposed. The numerical calculation of the bearing estimate variance and its comparison with the maximum-likelihood estimate variance as well as with the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) are given.
