Abstract
We propose an approach to solving the problem of controlling the parameters of a monochromatic linearly polarized paraxial wave beam. The approach includes two stages, namely, determination of the three-dimensional phase-amplitude structure of the beam field without a reference channel from the intensity measurements only and synthesis of matching antennas to ensure the required field distribution at, e.g., the transmission-line input. To diagnose the wave fields and control their parameters, original methods, algorithms, and codes are developed. Although this approach is employed in the experiments on matching high-power microwave beams with transmission lines, it can also be useful outside the millimeter-wave range.
