Abstract

David Warsh presents a history of the development of contemporary neoclassical economics, packaged as a heroic tale of mathematical economists struggling to expand the boundaries of human understanding by injecting ever-more-complex mathematics into economic analysis. Unfortunately, the heroic tale ends up undermining the history and vice versa.
