Professor of Comparative Education at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Co-ordinator of the Educational Policies and Training Analysis Group and member of the Interdisciplinary Group on Educational Policy. Author or co-author of more than 20 books and approximately 70 articles for specialized reviews. He has collaborated with various international organizations, including UNESCO, IBE, OEI, CEDEFOP and CESCR. He has also taught in several European universities. Gerard Ferrer Esteban (Spain)
Graduate of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Currently studying for a Ph.D. in Sociology at Barcelona University. Since 2003, assistant professor in the Department of Systematic and Social Pedagogy in UAB’s Educational Sciences Faculty. Since 1998, member of the UAB’s interdepartmental research group on adult education, and since 2004 member of the UAB’s GAPEF research group. He has worked on the educational assessment of schools. José Luis Castel Baldellou (Spain)
Primary education teacher. Master’s degree in the direction and management of schools and instructor of specialized teachers in areas related to group dynamics, conflict resolution and social skills. His research is focused on comparative education and international evaluations (PIRLS 2001; PISA 2003). As a member of the UAB’s GAPEF analysis group, he carried out a study in 2004 on factors in the socio-economic and cultural environment that affect reading performance among 10-year-olds (ESCOLE).
