Ph.D. in Education. Innovation Professor of Sustainability at RMIT University in Melbourne, where he is responsible for catalysing research teams to address issues of sustainability across the broad fields of business and economics, design and fashion, education and training, and social and environmental planning. Has supported UNESCO and UNEP in the development of plans for the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and was the author of the UNESCO multimedia teacher education programme, Teaching and learning for a sustainable future. He was co-moderator, with David Wilson, at the 2004 International Experts Meeting on ‘Learning for Work, Citizenship and Sustainability’ in Bonn. E-mail: john.fien@rmit.edu.au.

Ph.D. in Educational Planning and Comparative and International Education. Professor Emeritus at OISE, University of Toronto. Currently, Senior Consultant with the UNEVOC-UNESCO International Centre for TVET. Served twice with UNESCO, once with the ILO and as a Project Officer (TVET) with The Asian Development Bank. Has undertaken consulting projects in over sixty countries with bilateral and multilateral aid agencies. Articles and books published on comparative and international education, TVET, educational planning, HRD, knowledge management, ICTs, and the future of technology and work.
