CU(II) Complex with Nicotine and Carcinogenicity of Raw Medical Tobacco

Unusual coordination of Cu(II) with the pyrrolidine N atom of nicotine in aqueous solution that could promote the formation of carcinogenic N-nitrosonornicotine in raw medical tobacco was shown using circular dichroism.
