A Total Triterpene Glycosides Preparation from Zygophyllum Oxianum as a Potential Hypoglycemic Agent

Extraction of a total triterpene glycosides preparation from Zygophyllum oxianum and its influence on blood sugar levels in rats with alloxan hyperglycemia and alloxan diabetes are addressed. This preparation had marked hypoglycemic actions on prophylactic and therapeutic administration. The mechanism of action is different from that of the known drug used for the treatment of diabetes Maninil.
