Synthesis and antiparasitic activity of N-benzyl cytisine derivatives

  • Published:
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal Aims and scope

The antiparasitic (antihymenolepiatic and antileishmaniatic) activity of several N-benzyl derivatives of the alkaloid cytisine and 3-bromocytisine was studied. The structure–activity relationship in the series of synthesized compounds was analyzed. It was established that their activity depended on the presence and location of the halide atom in the molecular structure to a greater extent than the on presence of hydroxy or methoxy groups.
