Water-soluble compounds were prepared by the reaction of α-oxocarboxylic acids with heterocyclic amines and the reaction of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxoethanoic acid with sodium carbonate. Their effects on the blood coagulation system were studied. Compounds with high anticoagulant activity were identified.
