The electrochemical reduction of alkaline salts of 5-amino-2,3-dihydrophthalazine-1,4-dione was studied. These salts were able to increase the cytoplasm pH of NIH 3T3 mouse embryo fibroblast cells, this being an indicator of cell activation.
