Effect Heat Treatment on the Structure and Properties of NiCrSiBC Surfaced on Steel P91

Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

The effect of duration of post-welding heat treatment on the structure and properties of NiCrSiBC surfaced with an SS-3091 buffer layer on steel P91 (10CrMoVNb9-1) is studied. Scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and x-ray diffractometry are used to investigate the degree of nonuniformity of the distribution of chemical elements and formation of borides and carbides in the surfaced layer. The microhardness of the layer is determined after different treatments. An effective mode of post-welding heat treatment of steel P91 with surfaced wear-resistant layer from a NiCrSiBC alloy and a buffer layer from steel SS-309L is suggested (1-h annealing at 760°C followed by slow cooling).
