Numerical Simulation of the Temperature and Stress Fields in Fe-Based Alloy Coatings Produced by Wide-Band Laser Cladding

  • Published:
Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Amodel of three-dimensional temperature and residual stress fields was developed for the process of laser deposition of coatings from a Fe-based alloy containing 32% Mn, 9% Si, 4% Cr, and 3% Ni using a rectangular laser beam. The obtained model links the temperature fields to the structure and makes it possible to calculate the evolving temperature and stresses during cladding. The analysis of the simulation results is provided.
