Structural and Phase Transformations in a Coating Based on Copper and Zinc Particles Deposited by Gas Dynamic Spraying

  • Published:
Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

The structure of a coating based on a mixture of particles of Cu and Zn deposited by the method of gas dynamic spraying is studied. An x-ray diffraction analysis and a microscopic spectrum analysis are used to determine the structure and the elemental composition of the coating. Development of diffusion after the formation of the coating is shown to yield a solid solution of copper and zinc in it. The phase composition of the coating after the heat treatment (a hold at 405 – 415°C) is shown to change for intermetallic compounds and a solid solution of zinc in copper.
