Effect of Ion Nitriding on the Structural and Phase Composition and Mechanical Properties of High-Speed Steel R6M5 after SPD

The effect of ion nitriding in glow discharge on the structure and mechanical properties of steel R6M5 after quenching from 1200°C and tempering at 560°C with preliminary severe plastic deformation (SPD) is studied. Application of ion nitriding in glow discharge is shown to be effective for hardening the high-speed steel RM5 after SPD.
