Preparation of nitrogen-containing steel 04Kh20N6G11M2AFB powder and subsequent selective laser melting (SLM) are studied. The effect of oxygen in the atomizing nitrogen gas on powder nitrogen content is established. Nitrogen content in a monolithic sample is maintained after SLM. Comparative analysis of SLM-specimen mechanical properties and 04Kh20N6G11M2AFB steel is conducted.
