Data on the development, research and engineering applications of a metallic porous material with unique damping properties and superhigh elasticity, which is known as a “metallic counterpart of rubber” or briefly as “metallic rubber,” are presented. The process of production of such a material is considered including cold pressing of a metallic preform from coiled wire and formation of a porous structure. Amathematical model of cyclic deformation of articles from metallic rubber is developed and used to compute the parameters of various dampers and vibration isolators.
