Effect of nitrogen content on the structure and properties of nitrocarburized steel

  • Published:
Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

The structure and properties of nitrocarburized layers with high content of nitrogen (up to 0.90% on the surface of the layer) are studied. The effects of the nitrogen and carbon potentials of the atmosphere on the processes developing at the temperature of nitrocarburizing are determined. The structure and properties of the obtained diffusion layer and of the steel as a whole after nitrocarburizing performed in different modes are studied.
