Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

A study has been made of the structure of surface layers in metal materials after laser treatment involving melting. Factors are considered that favor accelerated mass transfer of the metal elements and fast local plastic strain in microscopic volumes. Kinetic analysis of the fast crystallization is used in discussing the variety of dendritic forms of crystals in the melted layer.
