Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

Mg – Al – Ca alloys positioned in the Mg – Al2 Ca quasi-binary section are studied. It is shown that alloys of this system bearing the Al2 Ca compound as a hardening phase can be used for developing structural alloys with elevated strength at 170°C and that the strength characteristics of the Mg – Al – Ca alloys can be improved by adding manganese.
