Abstract
Directions of development and ways for advancing aluminum-base materials for aircraft and spacecraft engineering are considered. Structure and properties of two groups of material, i.e., a new aluminum high-strength deformable alloy V1963 of the Al - Zn - Mg - Cu - Zr system bearing low additives of silver and scandium and possessing high strength, fatigue, and fracture toughness characteristics, and laminated alumopolymer composites of the SIAL class with enhanced crack resistance (by about a factor of 10) and strength (by a factor of 1.5 – 2) with respect to monolithic materials, are presented.
