Abstract

The influence of manganese on the processes of structure formation in manganese cast iron and steels depends considerably on its distribution between the phases. The values of the coefficients of interphase distribution of manganese are important initial data for making a thermodynamic analysis of the system and plotting sections of the diagram. This paper presents new and complete experimental data on the distribution of manganese in carbides and austenite in cast iron. The coefficients are shown to depend strongly on the concentrations and temperature. Values of the coefficients of distribution of manganese between other phases are systematized on the basis of known published data and the Fe - Mn phase diagram.
