Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

The issue of processing images obtained in remote sensing was examined. A method was developed for automated measurement of the coordinates of the digital images of centrally-symmetric artificial objects. The applicability of using the specified method in image-processing software systems was analyzed. In order to implement the method, two correlation algorithms are presented, which make it possible to determine the coordinates of the centers of images of artificial objects with subpixel accuracy. The effect of the discrete structure of raster images on the accuracy of measurements was investigated. The measurement errors of the coordinates of the digital images were calculated. An experiment is described, using the authors’ software for automated determination of the coordinates of the centers of images of the radial targets obtained from materials of actual photographs. The effectiveness of the proposed method was confirmed from the results of the experiment.
