Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

We describe an optical method for measuring the shape and size of the impingements formed by a gas jet on a liquid surface. We develop an apparatus for implementing the method, based on a collimated laser beam passing parallel to the undeformed liquid surface with a projected image of an impingement on a screen. Recommendations are given on the use of the method to improve the accuracy of measurements.
