The use of a phase-chronometric method in estimation of the wear of the working profiles of the teeth of gear wheels in the course of operation of a reduction gear without stopping and disassembly of the reduction gear is described. A very simple mathematical model describing the dynamics of a reduction gear is presented. A diagram of a test bed is presented.
