The error in measuring the maximum magnetic permeability of steels by the standard method, due to a discrete change in the amplitude of the magnetizing field of the basic curve of magnetization by induction, is analyzed. It is shown that the effort involved in these measurements can be reduced by using a formula for calculating the field in which the magnetic permeability of the steel is a maximum.
